Prairie Street Brewhouse

About this project

The historic Peacock Brewery constructed between 1857 and 1918, situated on the East bank of the Rock River and Madison Street in downtown Rockford, Illinois, received new life as the Prairie Street Brewhouse in 2014. The renovation of the building began in 2010 and has restored its unique architectural features. Gary W. Anderson Architects was the visionary planner for the project. The historic building hosts a brewery, restaurant and kitchen, banquet facilities on the 1st floor and lower levels, commercial office space on the 2nd floor, and upscale residential lofts on the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th floors. This is one of the largest renovation and historic preservation projects in the area and has become a popular, vibrant attraction. The project’s success has ignited multiple commercial renovations and historical preservation efforts in downtown of Rockford.
